Food Safety for Processors Program
Food Safety for Processors Program aims to enhance food safety in Saskatchewan production facilities. The Ministry of Agriculture provides funding assistance to the Food Centre to provide food safety gap analysis and food safety system development. Through this program, the Ministry also provides direct funding for food safety training and for facility upgrades. For more details, please check out their website.
Food Safety Gap Analysis
The GAP analysis will take approx. 2-5 hours on-site and will involve an inspection of the facility and review of any written documents. Areas of focus will include training, written food safety system development, facility improvements, etc. Key areas of focus will be sanitation, pest control, recall and equipment. A detailed inspection report will be submitted to the company following the on-site visit.

If you are eligible, a quote will be issued to the company.
Payment must be received prior to Food Centre visit.
Funding: 75% of eligible costs of the Food Safety Gap Analysis to a maximum of $1500.00 per processor.
Food Safety System Development
Develop a food safety system for third party certification or government recognition. Please contact the Food Centre for details on what food safety systems are covered by the program. Examples include but are not limited to: HACCP, GFSI (BRC, SQF), CFIA recognition, etc.
Applicants must obtain a Food Safety Gap Analysis before a Food Safety System can be written.
Funding: 75% of eligible costs to a maximum of $35,000.00 per processor
