The Food Centre was established as a partnership between the Government of Saskatchewan (represented by Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture), the Saskatchewan Food Processors Association and the University of Saskatchewan. The range of expertise that each partner brings to the table enables the Food Centre to provide processors with information and technical assistance needed to manufacture a product, get it to market, and maintain a viable operation.
The Ministry of Agriculture offers valuable support to the Saskatchewan food industry. Their experienced staff is available to assist the agriculture industry through its service offerings such as business expertise and leadership, technical support, research, etc. The branches in Ministry of Agriculture are committed to enhancing the development of a vibrant agricultural industry. The Food Centre is pleased to be working with the Ministry of Agriculture in many value-added initiatives.

The Saskatchewan Food and Ingredient Processors Association (SFIPA) is an industry association with a mandate to increase exposure of member companies and assist in any way possible to increase their sales to market. The goals of the SFIPA is to profile and promote Saskatchewan’s food and ingredient sector provincially, nationally and internationally. To represent and serve as a spokes group for the collective interests of Saskatchewan’s food and ingredient industry provincially, nationally and internationally. To assist in the growth and increase the competitiveness of the food and ingredient sector.

The Food Centre works closely with the University of Saskatchewan’s research scientists and academia at the College of Agriculture and Bioresources. The College links the Food Centre and industry to the latest technology and research information. The collaboration enables the expansion and diversification of the food industry through shared knowledge and discovery.

Industry Partnerships
In addition to our formal partnerships, the Food Centre is continually forging new relationships with external organizations. Over the years, the Food Centre has had the privilege of collaborating with several organizations in providing services and programs to strengthen Saskatchewan’s value added sector. From industry groups such as Saskatchewan Pulse Growers, SaskCanola, to other non profits such as Ag-West Bio and suppliers, the Food Centre has an extensive network to lean on.
Funding Partnerships
A huge acknowledgment to our funding agencies, past and present, for their continued support of the Food Centre and our initiatives in growing and diversifying Saskatchewan agri-value industry. The support of these funding agencies has enabled the Food Centre to deliver specialized training, introduce innovative technologies and ideas, and most of all allow the Food Centre to enhance and add more services to assist the industry in capturing opportunities.
