You will be part of a team involved in extrusion-related projects for food applications with external clients and internal initiatives. Qualifications:
- Experience in extrusion, food or plastic extrusion, food is preferred
- A minimum of 3 years experience as a machine operator in an industrial setting

The Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Centre Inc. (Food Centre) has an immediate need for a Microbiology and Analytical Technician to work in its new Fermentation & Bioengineering program. You will be part of a team involved in fermentation projects for food and non-food applications for external clients and internal initiatives. You will have opportunities to learn and develop skills in fermentation technology over time. You will be a willing and enthusiastic learner.
Duties, responsibilities and qualifications:
- Extensive understanding of microbiology principles and extensive hands-on experience including proper aseptic techniques, microbial testing, cell banking, plate counts, staining techniques. etc.
- Experience with a wide variety of analytical techniques for carbohydrates, starch, proteins, metabolites, etc.
- Experience with DNA, RNA and protein isolation from bacteria, fungi and plants.
- Experience in performing quantitative real-time PCR assays.
- Strong ability to read and understand operating manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Generate, complete and maintain Batch Records.
- Excellent laboratory organization and record keeping.
- Ability to perform basic data analyses in Excel.
- Follow QA/QC standards, practices and protocols established at the Food Centre.
- Monitor growth of microorganisms and progress of fermentation.

The Saskatchewan Food Inspection services (managed by the SK Food Centre) is seeking an individual to join our team to provide inspection services throughout the province of Saskatchewan. The position is for part-time with the possibility of full-time. Inspectors are responsible for ensuring provincial standards are being met in provincially licensed (Domestic) meat slaughter and processing facilities. The successful candidate will receive extensive classroom and on the job training related to inspection processes.
Job Description:
- Examination of animal and carcass before and after slaughtering to detect evidence of disease or other abnormal conditions that may result in further actions (trim, hold or condemnation).
- Observation of animal handling techniques to ensure compliance with humane handling standards.
- Careful and complete documentation of all findings.
- Maintain a professional working relationship with the establishment.
- Inspect processing areas to ensure sanitary conditions are maintained.
- Maintain a current knowledge of all applicable regulations and standards.

The Food Centre is an industry leader in developing new products and technologies for the agri-food sector and has an immediate opening for a full time position in Maintenance. The position will assist in general equipment servicing, routine maintenance of facilities and equipment.
Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years experience or equivalent training in a related field in maintenance, be mechanically inclined with a good knowledge of equipment functions (electrical/electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical) and general building repairs. They must be able to self manage themselves with a willingness to learn, basic computer skills and maintain a log book is required. The position requires a Journeymen certificate in electrical or Millwright

The Food Centre is looking for a full-time Food/Meat Processing Specialist. This role will assist current and future Food Centre clients at our Pilot Plant location (on University of Saskatchewan campus) with their food production projects with a focus on meat production as well as other food products. As part of our Food Centre team, you will responsible for assisting clients in their production and equipment operation as well as shipping/receiving, inventory control, documentation, QA/QC duties, and other duties as required. This position reports to the Pilot Plant Manager and may lead into a leadership role for the right candidate.
Requirements:
- Experience in a federally inspected meat facility would be an asset
- Sausage making/curing/smokehouse operation would be a requirement
- Working knowledge within HACCP systems
- Highly attentive to food quality and detail
- Good math and reading skills
